Analysis and Comparison of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors According to Rotor Type under the Same Design Specifications

A surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) is an electric with a simple magnetic circuit design, fast responsiveness, linear torque–current characteristics, speed–voltage and constant operating speed. SPMSMs use only torque; however, interior PMSMs (IPMSMs) have high power densities because they can reluctance torque. In addition, when flux-weakening control used, the range wide compared SPMSM. This study presents comparative analysis of characteristics SPMSM bar-type IPMSM. Characteristic analyses are performed by setting same stator shape, rated speed, number turns, winding specifications, voltage limit, usage in pole/slot combination six poles 27 slots. Next, we compare no-load back electromotive force, cogging torque, loss perform characteristic each model while satisfying design specifications. No-load load tests using back-to-back system. The results experimental good agreement, reliability guaranteed. approximately 8.5% superior to IPMSM terms core loss, eddy current greater than that
